A Letter From the ALCC President | July

Do we ever get a break? With record rainfall this past spring and now going into summer, with record consecutive hundred-degree days, we continue to work through these challenges and provide great products and services to our customers and clients.

As we bounce back from these weather challenges and come out of the pandemic, it seems like everyone in the construction-related industries are dealing with increased sales, material shortages and staffing concerns. The good news is we are halfway through the year!

As the summer heats up, water conservation is on the minds of many, but we know that in the landscape industry, saving water is always a part of our plan. This month our industry observes Smart Irrigation Month, an annual event not just for irrigation professionals, but for consumers as well. Designed to promote the social, economic and environmental benefits of efficient irrigation technologies, products and services in landscape, turf and agricultural irrigation is now in its 18th year.

Through SLM Colorado, ALCC, and its partners in GreenCO, we continue to monitor our state's drought conditions and will update our messaging and communication to meet our goal of providing the best possible education and information on the importance of water efficiency.

Additionally, we continue to advocate for the landscape industry with our legislators. At last week's virtual Days on the Hill, ALCC led a delegation of more than a dozen people who met via Zoom with our DC legislators and their staff to discuss our concerns, especially as they relate to H-2B and workforce issues.

Hang in there -- I think now more than ever we need to support each other in our industry. I look forward to the day in the not-to-distant-future when we can all get together again.

Sincerely,

Phil Steinhauer
ALCC Board President
