A Letter from the ALCC President | August

I can't believe I am more than halfway through my term as ALCC President. It has been a pleasure to meet and talk with so many new faces in our industry.

As we are in the middle of the "Dog Days" of summer, which are typically the hottest, most sultry days of the season, this phrase seems to ring true more than ever this year with the string of heat waves, fires and record ozone levels. As an industry, the majority of our work force are providing services outside. It is important that we look after their safety and make sure that they are staying hydrated and protected from the sun and heat. Despite the unique challenges we have faced this year, the landscape industry seems busier than ever....so, we can forget about that August lull that is typically seen. With that being said, I hope that you are all staying the course and having a prosperous season.

I would like to thank you all for reaching out to your senators and representatives. The response from our industry was tremendous and helped remove anti-H2B language from the appropriations bill. It is so important for us all to continue the ongoing advocacy for H-2B to help solve our labor shortages.

Please mark your calendars for this year's ALCC Golf Tournament. This annual event is already sold out, but if you would like to be added to the waitlist in case of cancellations, please contact ALCC. It is a great day of golf, networking, and fun in the Colorado sun. The tournament helps fund ALCC programs that support the landscape industry. This year's tournament has a new venue, Arrowhead Golf Course in Littleton.

As we look ahead towards fall,  we will be having our fall forum in person this year and review the needs of our membership, create a strategic plan for the new year and recognize new leaders to our industry.

Please reach out to ALCC or myself if we can be of any help.
