Commercial Landscape Estimator

The Opportunity

As the Commercial Landscape Estimator, you will perform duties utilizing state-of-the-art techniques and diversified knowledge of engineering and estimating principles with moderate supervision. Utilizes decision making for preparing conceptual documents to develop estimates. Performs detailed quantity survey and takeoffs to develop material and labor costs. Prepares final estimate and summary sheet with all costs,

direct job expenses, taxes, and mark ups.

 

  • Company vehicle may be provided for bidding process.
  • Company cell phone and laptop provided.
  • Snow removal on a volunteer basis only.

Responsibilities

Responsible for all aspects of competitive bid projects

  • Responsible for all aspects of preconstruction services that will include developing relationships with clients, negotiating contracts and developing detailed budgets.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, pre-construction meetings, bid openings, and project hand-off meetings.
  • Perform field take-offs/evaluations for estimate preparation.
  • Conducts estimate review process with internal and external stake holders.
  • Review scope and costs with construction team in developing the schedule.
  • Determine scope of work to be done by outside vendors & subcontractors
  • Solicit quotes from vendors & subcontractors.
  • Assists construction personnel throughout the project life cycle in tracking and understanding basis of cost estimate.

Manage the preparation and submission of change orders

  • Sell General Contractor on revised scope and budgets.

 

Qualifications

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, or related field or equivalent in years of experience (two years’ experience to one year of education).
  • Must have two to four years of experience in the landscape construction industry.
  • Must possess estimating knowledge in the construction, landscape, irrigation, or related industries.
  • Clean MVR
Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • AUTOCAD
  • Bid2Win experience preferred.
  • Construction Irrigation Take Offs.
  • Ability to determine labor units and make adjustment for level of difficulty.
  • Ability to take an estimate from the beginning to a finished product.
  • Ability to direct, supervise and coordinate responsibilities within the estimating team.
  • Must have capability of managing different job tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to build and maintain client contacts and relationships with owners, developers, general contractors, architects, engineers, and vendors.
  • Intermediate level expertise in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.
