History & Mission

Designscapes Colorado - Landscape Company History

Designscapes Colorado was founded in 1992 by principals Scott Ascherman and Phil Steinhauer — and today is regionally recognized as a premiere design, construction, and maintenance firm serving both residential and commercial properties.

Today, Designscapes Colorado is operating in a state-of-the-art facility in Centennial, designed by Semple Brown Design and constructed by Finlay/Criss. The 14,000 square foot building located on six acres provides us the opportunity to showcase design applications as well as house our equipment and nursery stock.

Three distinct divisions now comprise Designscapes Colorado: Residential Construction, Commercial Construction, and Maintenance. The firm employs 40 salaried team members and nearly 175 seasonal employees.

We are proud of our long-standing relationships of doing business in The Preserve in Greenwood Village, Cherry Hills Park, and Denver Public Schools.

Our Mission Statement

At Designscapes Colorado, our mission is simple; to offer high quality, affordability priced unusual landscapes and outdoor living spaces. We use only premium grade nursery stock and materials, to deliver functional designs that surpass expectations. We view ourselves as partners with our clients, our employees, our community, and our environment.

Designscapes Colorado is more than a business; it is an active partner within the community. As a proud member of Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado and the American Society of Landscape Architects we have participated in numerous community outreach programs.

Our entire team gives generously of our time and talent, participating in such projects as Denver Urban Gardens, The HOPE House, The Rainbow House, Field of Dreams Park, Denver Public School Volunteer Days and A&E’s Home for the Brave.

Most of all, we are dedicated to long-term relationships with our customers.
