It was important for us to look at the character of the entire property and its location. First and foremost, we had to establish the front entry, drive and guest parking in keeping with the casual nature of the architecture, which is characterized by a large front porch, a meandering walk and circle drive were designed. This allows for visitors to experience the home and landscape as soon as they step on the grounds.
As you move through the landscape, not everything has to be disclosed at the onset. A degree of mystery was created through a series of gardens that provide surprises as you walk around the grounds. Flowering groundcovers are embraced by boxwood hedges and hydrangeas. Annual flowers and seasonal bulbs are tucked into these flower borders and extend the season and provide continual interest and color. Texture and size were also very important in creating harmony and balance to the home.
