Pretty Penstemons

Monday is the 1st day of summer and what better day than to talk about a beautiful perennial that thrives here in Colorado! In fact, most of the species are native to the western states.

Phil will discuss the growth habits of Penstemon and have several on display for the viewers to see and learn about.

Here are some interesting facts about these garden beauties!

  • Range in height from 3″ tall to 5′ tall
  • All have trumpet flowers in flower choices of pink, red, peach, purple, lilac, blue, yellow, or white
  • Grow in cold mountains and hot deserts
  • Drought tolerant once established
  • Do best in full sun and good drainage
