Let The Games Begin

5 garden games and activities you can do with your kids right now

As most of our time is being spent indoors, cheer up your kids with some DIY garden games. They are not just for the young, you can join in on the fun too! Here is a list of 5 garden games for you and your kids to try. (if you don't have kids, you can still join in on the fun.)

1. Blanket Run
Grab a couple of old blankets and runners get on your marks! To play, you will need a least four people. Divide the teams with two members each. One team member will sit on and hold tight to one end of the blanket. The other team member will grab the other end of the blanket and run to one end of the yard. At the opposite end, the players must switch roles. The one who was running must sit on the blanket and the that was sitting must grab the blanket and run back to the start. The team that completes the race faster wins the game. Only have two people? Place a weighted object on the blanket instead.

2. Nature art
Craft a masterpiece! Collect natural materials such as twigs, leaves, grass, flower and create something beautiful!

3. Scavenger Hunt
Create a list of items commonly seen in a garden and nature. Have the kids clip the list on a clipboard, grab a writing utensil and head to your backyard.

4. Obstacle Course
Create an obstacle course with recreational equipment in your garage. Imagination Soup has DIY obstacle course ideas that can be easily put together.

5. Dance Party
Crank up that playlist of your favorite tunes. Include bubbles, hula hoops, or beach balls for added fun.
