Commercial Landscape Foreman II

The Opportunity

As foreman II, you will assist foreman I in planning, managing and supervising project operations to produce a quality build which is under budget and completed on time. You will also perform the actual installation tasks. Snow removal operations during the winter months is required for this position. 

Responsibilities

Crew Management

  • Walk through the project with the foreman I and foreman III to discuss scope, schedule, layout, and possible change orders.
  • Coordinate with foreman I to determine the required crew size, materials (irrigation, rock, plant material, sod, mulch, etc.) and equipment necessary to maintain project efficiency.
  • Direct the work of the crew per foreman I's directives as required to meet the goals established by the project manager while performing the work of a crew member.
  • Responsible for assisting with training landscape technicians and lead(s) in respect to various irrigation and landscape tasks.
  • Monitor labor cost analysis weekly, and recommend any changes required to stay within budget.
  • Recommend to foreman I any discipline required to maintain the performance of a crew member. The project manager will conduct any appropriate disciplinary action.
  • Maintain Designscapes Colorado’s quality standards throughout the project.

Materials and Equipment

  • Follow maintenance procedures for each piece of equipment operated. Check all fluid levels to assure they are at the required levels prior to operating any piece of equipment (on or off site). Fill only with the specified fluids.
  • Ensure proper use of equipment by understanding, communicating, directing and training the crew on the proper use of equipment, its capabilities and limitations (specifically use, weight & volume limitations).
  • Know the skill level of each operator to determine if they are qualified to operate specific equipment.

Administrative Paperwork

  • Complete and timesheets by the established deadline.
  • Submit invoices in a timely manner.
  • Complete daily Driver Inspection Report (DIR).

Safety

  • Maintain project safety by verifying that each employee and subcontractor knows the safety practices required by his position, conducting daily safety inspections of the project site and immediately reporting any hazards to foreman I, and constantly watching for safety problems. Immediately report any employee injury foreman I, superintendent or project manager.

Snow Removal

  • During winter months when landscaping projects are no longer scheduled, must be available 24/7 to assist in removing snow from various industrial and residential properties and complete.
  • Complete snow removal logs.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One (1) or more years of experience in landscaping or related field preferred.
  • A valid driver license and clean MVR helpful.

Specialized Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of construction techniques.
  • The ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Knowledge of construction safety practices.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Landscape Industry Certified Technician and Commercial Driver’s License helpful.
  • Thorough knowledge of the limitations of the specific types of construction equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, squat and lift objects. May be required to lift and/or move up to 50 to 75 pounds. Must be able to drive during the course of work.

Moderately undesirable working conditions. The work schedule varies depending on the weather. The position is required to work weekends (Saturday/Sunday) or late at night. The crew should be flexible with availability depending on the needs of the customers.
