The Opportunity

We are looking for a Mechanic who will be integral in the maintenance of our light and heavy-duty equipment. You will be tasked with diagnosing, and repairing company equipment in shop to performance and safety standards. Snow removal equipment repair operations is required for this position.

Responsibilities

Mechanic
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair as direct by Shop Foreman or Manager on a variety of light and heavy-duty equipment including, but not limited to: a variety of lawn equipment, Wheel Loaders, Backhoes, Excavators, Trenchers, Motor Graders, Pick-up Trucks, Single and Tandem Dump Trucks, Tractor Trailer, Flatbed and Dump Trailers, small landscape maintenance equipment, and light and heavy duty snow removal equipment.
  • Inspect and diagnose equipment to determine the necessary repairs to correct the problem. 
  • Must be able to disassemble, repair or replace broken parts on machines.
  • Complete equipment service orders daily. 
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area.
  • Follow safety rules and regulations. 
Winter Responsibilities
  • Be on-call during winter months for snow related equipment repairs.
  • Assist Mechanic Foreman to perform annual inspections, evaluations and repairs. 

Qualifications

Education and experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience. 
  • Must pass required safety training, DOT physical exam, a background check and a drug test.
  • Must have a valid Colorado Driver's License and a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
Specialized knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to take direction, adapt to change, establish relationships, build consensus, anticipate roadblocks, and work in a team environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of CDOT and OSHA regulations. 
  • Prioritize duties, projects and work assignments.
  • Must have thorough equipment knowledge. 
  • Strong mechanical skills and aptitude.
  • Must be able to read hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Knowledge of the limitations of specific types of construction equipment and safety practices used in performing maintenance services.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is desired.
  • Class A CDL is desired.
  • ASE Certification is desired.

Moderately undesirable working conditions. (ie. occasional exposure to significant levels of temperature, air pollution, noise pollution, chemical gases and substances; physical trauma conditions of a minor nature such as cuts, bruises and minor burns). The work schedule varies depending on the weather. During busy season, start time is at 6:30am. The position may require work on Saturday's or late night in the case of an emergency. The crew should be flexible with availability depending on the needs of the shop.
