Lawn Care Technician

The Opportunity

As a Lawn Care Technician, you will operate spray equipment and machinery to apply various herbicides to commercial and residential accounts. You will also be responsible for ensuring the safe application of all weed control measures as indicated by products MSDS. Snow removal operations are required for this position. 

Responsibilities

Operations
  • Schedule
    • Schedules applications based on contract requirements.
    • Organizes and prioritizes weed control inspections, maintenance and responses. 
    • Coordinate with Account Managers, Administrator(s) and/or Mowing Supervisors for the applications.
  • Maintain Designscapes Colorado's quality standards throughout the season.
Materials and Equipment 
  • Operates tools and equipment for the application of various herbicides.
  • Order products needed and coordinate delivery and storage.
  • Responsible for keeping track of the maintenance of equipment and tools for the application of herbicides.
Administrative Paperwork
  • Complete timesheets and submit by the established deadline.
  • Complete spray reports and records and submit work orders by the established deadline.
  • Order chemicals and keep track of product.
  • Keep all spray records according to the Department of Agriculture.
Safety 
  • Maintain safety standards on the project by verifying that each employee knows the safety practices required by their position.
    • Conduct safety inspections of the project site.
    • Immediately report any hazards to the supervisors and constantly watch for safety problems.
    • Immediately report any employee injury to the supervisor, account manager or division manager.
    • Ensure proper use of PPE.
Snow Removal
  • During winter months when herbicide applications are no longer scheduled, you must be available 24/7 to assist in removing snow from various industrial and residential properties and complete snow removal logs.
  • Winter projects.

Qualifications

Education and Experience 
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience spraying chemicals.
  • One (1) or more years of experience in landscaping or related field preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and clean MVR helpful. 
Specialized Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • The ability to read, understand and perform basic arithmetic.
  • Knowledge of application safety practices.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Landscape Industry Certified Technician (LICT) and Commercial Driver's License helpful.
  • Thorough knowledge of the limitations of the specific types of construction equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, squat and lift objects. May be required to lift and/or move up to 50 to 75 pounds. Must be able to drive during the course of work.

Moderately undesirable working conditions. The work schedule varies depending on the weather. The position is required to work weekends (Sat/Sun) or late at night. The crew should be flexible with availability depending on the needs of the customers.
