Landscape Construction Technician

The Opportunity

As a Landscape Construction Technician, you will be responsible for all aspects of landscape installation, including but not limited to the installation of irrigation systems, patios, outdoor lighting, and more. Snow removal operations during the winter months is required.

You must bring two (2) valid forms of identification for work authorization. Valid Driver's License and clean driving record are required.

$1,000 Retention Bonus

  • Work 500 hours from hire date, receive a $500 bonus.
  • Work an additional 500 hours, receive a final $500 bonus.
  • After working 1,000 hours, your rate will increase to $16.21 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Clear construction sites of all debris and trash.
  • Install irrigation piping and drain pipes.
  • Handle construction materials onsite and in storage areas.
  • Control traffic by erecting traffic signals and diverting traffic by hand signals.
  • Dig trenches and level earth in accordance to specifications.
  • Load and unload delivery trucks.
  • Haul and hoist material to ensure appropriate delivery to construction site.
  • Clean up oil and grease spills.
  • Operate small equipment, pneumatic hammers and tampers.
  • Manage the maintenance of saws, drills, grinders and blowtorches.
  • Perform preventative and regular maintenance on equipment.
  • Prepare soil for sod and plant installation.
  • Plant trees, shrubs, perennials and seasonal color per GreenCo’s standards.
  • Lay out bed lines and the install edging.
  • Install mulch around plant materials.
  • Transport and install hardscape materials such as fill dirt, boulders and step stones to various job sites.
  • Responsible for keeping the  job site clean at all times.
  • Trim shrubs and pull weeds as needed.
  • Rake and prune grounds as needed.
  • Water plants and grass as needed.
  • Install low-voltage outdoor lighting systems.
  • Collaborate with team members to reach productivity goals.  

Training, Support and Safety

  • Work closely with other team members on training, accountability and safety.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times to ensure job site safety.
  • Implement and adhere to the highest standards of quality workmanship.

Snow Removal

  • During winter months when landscaping projects are no longer scheduled, must be available 24/7 to assist in removing snow from various commercial and residential properties.
  • Shovel snow from walkways and sprinkle ice melt to keep people from falling.
  • Complete snow removal logs.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of construction experience.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is desired.

  • Knowledge of construction techniques and safety practices.
  • Proper lifting techniques must be followed.
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks of all types.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, squat and lift objects. May be required to lift and/or move up to 80 to 100 pounds. Must be able to drive during the course of work.

Moderately undesirable working conditions. (i.e. occasional exposure to significant levels of temperature, air pollution, noise pollution, chemical gases and substances; physical trauma conditions of a minor nature such as cuts, bruises and minor burns). The work schedule varies depending on the weather. The position may work weekends (Saturday/Sunday) or late at night. The crew should be flexible with availability depending on the needs of the customers.
