- 01/10/11"I would like to thank everyone who contributed for their generous support of the Food Bank of the Rockies' Feed Our Children campaign. Through your generosity, we contributed as a group $30,350, including the match from Marry, Pat and me. Each $1 donated allows the Food Bank to purchase four USDA-approved, nutrition-specific meals; our donation alone will provide funds for over 120,000 meals. Farrell-Roeh, its affiliated companies and their many employees and friends have now generously contributed over the last none years approximately $27,000 to the Feed Our Children campaign.
Your generous donation shows how much you care about others and about helping children sustain healthy life. You have helped make a real difference in the lives of the children benefited through the Feed Our Children campaign. In recent conversation, Sandy, my assistant, had with an employee at the Food Bank, she was told of a young girl that receives assistance through the Totes of Hope program, part of the Feed our Children campaign. Totes filled with 8 to 9 pounds of nutritious kid-friendly food are distributed to children on Fridays to take home over the weekend. For many of these children, the totes are their main source of food on Saturday and Sunday. This young girl told the Food Bank employee how happy it made her and her family to receive food assistance as without it, her father often went without dinner so that everyone else could eat, drinking only three glasses of water and walking around the block to ward off his hunger. By the Food Bank supplying food for his daughter, it allowed the entire family to sit down and enjoy a meal. When the Totes of Hope program started in summer 2009, the Food Bank distributed 400 totes a week which quickly grew to 1,300 totes a week by September 2009 and has remained at that level.
