Xeriscaping refers to a method of landscape design that minimizes water use through careful selection of native and low water plants. Knowledge of soil types, slopes, botany, and climate are essential to producing a successful xeriscape garden. The advantages are many; low water consumption (key in our arid environment), a beautiful "natural" looking garden, lower pesticide and fertilizer use, and the knowledge that the xeriscaped garden is in harmony with its setting and climate. Designscapes maintenance of the beautiful xeriscape garden at Stapleton illustrates both the beauty and potential of these gardens.
