Decorating With Pinecones

‘Tis the season for decorating for the holidays!  There are so many fun, creative and expensive ways to decorate using pinecones from your own yard.

One idea is to hot glue individual pinecones on branches and put them in a glass centerpiece of water and filled in with evergreen branches for a festive centerpiece.

Another idea is to put your collected pinecones on a baking sheet in the oven at 200 degrees for 30 to 45 minutes to kill any insects or insect eggs.  Place in a ziplock bag and pour some essential oil droplets (such as clove, orange, cinnamon or a combination), close and toss to disperse the scent.  After a few days put into a container and put out for a fresh fragrance in your home or give as a hostess gift!

Looking to add a unique touch to your home wall decor or front door?  Make a wreath out of pinecones!  Purchase a white styrofoam wreath, spray paint brown and then hot glue pinecones as you push them slightly into the styrofoam wreath.  When the wreath is done – add your own personal touch of a ribbon or berries!
